Post-Primary School Students
.
There are different types of secondary schools in Singapore. They can be categorised under the following:
Government |
Schools organised and conducted directly by the government. |
Autonomous |
Autonomous Schools were established in 1994 to provide pupils with quality education within the framework of a non-independent status but with greater autonomy devolved to the schools (MOE).
These schools provide a wider range of innovative courses and enrichment programmes that enhance your child’s learning experience and develop his/her talents. |
Independent |
These schools enjoy greater autonomy in curricular innovations, implementation of school programmes, administration, student admissions and the setting of fee structures |
Private |
Schools not governed by MOE; for-profit schools. |
Different schools offer different programs. This can be shown in the infographic above. Below are the types of programs student-athletes can consider:
1. O’/N’ Levels
government, autonomous, or independent
a. Secondary Education places students in the Express, Normal (Academic) or Normal (Technical) course according to how they perform at the PSLE.
b. Competition: Students involved in a CCA can compete in the National School Games’ C and B Division.
